The Lets Loop group in Poynton have continued throughout 2016 to encourage shops, service counters, Doctors surgeries, supermarkets, banks to make better provision of Induction Loops in our community.
Teams of volunteers led by the local Poynton Rotary Club have been carrying out Loop Checks using local residents who have Hearing Loss to identify locations best and worst practices.
Many locations were initially found to be below a reasonable standard either through faulty/badly installed equipment or lack of knowledge by counter staff.
Thanks to the volunteer group and some local financial support, Lets Loop Poynton together with the UKs largest hearing charity Action on Hearing Loss were able to provide 2 certificated Training Awareness sessions in Poynton in October for staff from premises with Induction loops already installed. 28 delegates from 14 businesses attended the programme and had a great insight into how loss of hearing can have a marked influence on where customers choose to visit when Induction loops are provided. Locally, a further 6 premises have installed Loops and a major supermarket chain is expected to follow suit shortly.
