The Rotary Club of Wigan recently had the honour of inducting a new Associate member into the Club Sebastian Rafiriou. It was an exciting and different occasion as Sebastian lives in Romania and he has been key in our efforts, through a Rotary Foundation matching grant, to provide a science laboratory in a school in Bacau. His induction was done via Facetime technology. We think this may be a District first for our club. It certainly was an historic Rotary moment !
Sebastian whose full name is Tiberiu Sebastian Rafiroiu, is 26 years of age and was born and raised in the north-eastern town of Bacău in Romania. At high school he studied philology and linguistics, and after graduation and passing his A-Levels, he attended Robert Gordon University in Aberdeen, Scotland. He graduated in 2014 and returned to Romania to pursue his career in the fashion industry
Sebastian had met several members of the Wigan Club and they all felt his commitment to Rotary ideals and hands on abilities would help ensure the building project in Romania comes to a successful conclusion. "
