The Rotary Club of Oldham is pleased to announce the winners of the Oldham Student of the Year Award 2022.

The Rotary Club of Oldham are once again proud to present the Awards for 2022. The Awards ceremony took place in the Council Chamber at the Civic Centre in the presence of the Mayor of Oldham, Councillor Jenny Harrison. This was a pleasing return to some normality after last year’s awards were presented on line and in school.

The President of the Rotary Club, Neil Taylor gave a synopsis of Rotary locally and internationally and thanked the entrants, their schools, parents and guardians for taking part in this year’s awards. The Club President and the Mayor presented all the nominated students with a Nominee Certificate and then the Winners and Runners up were announced.

President Neil said he was proud to be involved in the Awards and was amazed at the resilience of young people during the past 2 years of Covid,
He said that he was also amazed at the quality of the nominations received and the variety of ways that young people offered service to the community in difficult and challenging times.

They reflected the ability and determination to overcome challenges presented to them and set examples of fortitude and leadership.
The nominations received reflected the way young people have responded to the needs of communities, the needs of families and also the needs of fellow students.

The organizing committee and the judging panel of 6 Rotarians were faced with an extremely challenging number of nominations from schools, academies and colleges from across the borough and had difficult decisions to make.

The Mayor said that she was delighted to be able to be present at the Awards and commented that it was encouraging to see young people gathering together once more at the ceremony. She said she was proud to be associated with the Awards and reminded all present that the award seeks to recognise the outstanding contribution young people give to their school, to our local community and to family displaying one of the aims of Rotary, which is to encourage and foster the ideal of service. She thanked and congratulated each entrant for their dedication and commitment which she saw as a very encouraging sign for the town.

This year the Rotary Club of Oldham has fully sponsored the Award including all the prizes and President Neil said that he was very grateful for the support of all the members in enabling the prizes to be made.

All the winning students were presented with Nomination Certificates and Winner/Runner-up certificates and also received vouchers which were sponsored by :
