Rainhill Rotary continues supporting local organisations through our Dragons Den awards. These have been very challenging times for all organisations and our Club agreed to continue our traditional major charitable initiative, Dragons Den, now in its 11th year.
The Community Service Committee has had a difficult time distributing our limited funding. We have concentrated our efforts on supporting the neediest local Charities and good causes.
Ongoing our Rotary Club will have very limited future fundraising opportunities, with a delayed Beer Festival and very limited Christmas Sleigh activity. We have modified our funding criteria to reflect the changing circumstances brought about by the pandemic.
This year we have received a comparatively small number of applications as a result of much reduced activity of charities and good causes in our location, during the pandemic.
Our Community Service Committee who review all applications has operated via emails and zoom meetings with the final decision meeting, to decide on recipients and amounts of awards, taking place on the first week of May. We produced letters to all applicants advising them of the outcome of their application, following the approval of all our Club members in the third week of May. Bank transfers of awards funds are completed by the end of May.
The cumulative amount for donations over the last eleven years has now reached the magnificent total of £115,000.
