Neighbours in Lilford Drive in Great Sankey got a surprise when Warrington Rotary Club arrived with gazebos, tables, chairs, tea and coffee plus a selection of biscuits and cakes.
Three car drives were commandeered, gazebos built and tea and coffee served, socially distanced.
The event was a Neighbourhood Picnic a small free street picnic for neighbours, who have not had regular contact, to meet during the day for a chat, tea or coffee and a piece of cake during lock down.
Residents from nearby houses were invited along and soon got into conversation.
One lady who is housebound was served tea and biscuits at her door and even rekindled memories with a neighbour from around the corner who she hadnt met for over 20 years. Memories were swapped of them and their deceased partners spending evenings together at the local pub.
These picnics are part of Warrington Rotary Clubs aim to help reduce social isolation.
