As a result of Covid-19 a single nurse can easily get through 60 pairs of gloves and gowns alone in a shift. Often staff are using unsuitable protection in the absence of anything else available. Following an emotive talk about the serious lack of local PPE provision by Stockport GP Dr Rukhsana Salim and Abi Jenkins (For the Love of Scrubs) at an eClub meeting, members swung into action.
Within a week the club had collected and delivered suitable fabric to be sewn into scrubs, provided IT support to produce a suitable PDF pattern for making scrubs, got volunteers to help with sewing scrubs, headbands and wash bags and through social media obtained some visors. The club donated £1100 and this was used to buy face masks of the required standard. Club members liaised with Stockport Lamplighter and Stockport Club and a further £2000 was donated. Many thanks goes to these clubs.
The eClub are very proud to be able to help our frontline workers
