Ian Robinson, President of Rotary Congleton and secretary Maggie Walker presented a cheque for £1,500 to Mr Ed O'Brien, Head Teacher at Eaton Bank Academy. Mr O'Brien told the assembly of the role of Rotary in the community and the value of working to serve the community.
The money was raised at the successful Christmas Concert run by the Rotary Club. The school's Eaton Bank choir Encore, performed at the concert with Silk Brass, which was held in the town's Daneside Theatre.The donation will be used towards the cost of a new all-weather football pitch at the school, which will not only benefit the school but will be available for the entire community.Rtn Rod Goodier told the year 7 and 8 assembly of the many ways in which Rotary is involved with the school in its regular programme of schools and youth competitions including Young Chef, Young Artist and the plans for new Young Photographer, Young Writer and Youth Speaks competitions.
Eaton Bank Academy entered teams in the Rotary Swimathon which took place at the Congleton Leisure Centre on 8th/9th February.
