With the expansion of the Biddulph cemetery into the area off Woodhouse Lane, behind the Bowling Club, Biddulph Rotary decided, together with the Biddulph in Bloom committee, that the site would need some new features to make the rather new looking site, more attractive.
'Biddulph in Bloom' set to work last year, in planting a rose garden in the centre and Biddulph Rotary decided to erect a gazebo to duplicate the well used one which they had built in the old cemetery. Work on building it was done last year and completed earlier this year.
On Saturday, 28th April, the new gazebo was 'dedicated' by Biddulph Town Mayor, Chris Wood, and attended by a group of Rotarians.
Rotary had already done some work on the site by planting 266 saplings and trees around the boundary of the area, as part of a Woodland Trust challenge to Rotary in Britain and Ireland, to plant 47,000 trees in an effort to help maintain the environment.
